We are off! Arctic Cruise Commencement

We departed Nome, AK on the R/V Sikuliaq last night and heading north to the Arctic with a team of scientists from across the globe for the next month. My goal is to share pictures, stories, and information about the work we are doing up here in the Arctic. The flight from Portland to Anchorage gave us SPECTACULAR views of the mountains and fjords in Prince William Sound! We also got a spectacular sunset in Nome to start the trip off well. The sun rose at 10am and it is very cold out, but the real winter weather is pretty amazing!

Here are a few pics from my flight and the ship in Nome.
